We have been blessed this Autumn with the most beautiful warm weather and stunning sunsets. But we knew only too well that the change was coming. Just like the seasons change there will be changes at Blue Suede Shoes on the Central Coast & Newcastle.

Everyone is busy and the mailbox is constantly filling and we understand.  Our Newsletter will go bi monthly from June.  You may follow all updates on Facebook and visit our Website for your weekly gig guide and Events.  Our Lessons Page is updated monthly so be sure to check in.  Our usual update emails will be sent to keep you in check with what’s new.

It’s our 25^th year of Service and I think back of the early days when I first began at Ashlar Golf Club in Blacktown. And just like that very first day I find myself with the same mixed emotions of excitement and uncertainty of having to let go and move on from some of our established locations. Please be sure to read on and check the changes to Toukley & Long Jetty below.

Central Coast & Newcastle Areas Class Disruptions in June
Long Weekend Monday 13 June – All venues will be closed on the Central Coast & Hunter.
Please note Long Jetty will be closed 7 June and there will only be 2 classes this month at this venue 14 and 21 June.

Sydney Class Disruptions Long Weekend
Emu Plains classes will go ahead as normal for the Long Weekend Monday.
Camden RSL will be off on Monday 13 June.

PUBLIC LIABILITY INSURANCE Versus ACCIDENT INSURANCE
Blue Suede Shoes Dance School is covered by Dance Cover Aust Pty Ltd and with the new changes to our Insurance Policy we have opted to bring back the Waiver Clause. Please note as a student you are covered by any negligence on behalf of our staff at any of our venues. If you should injure yourself through your own negligence please note you are not covered. There is an additional Student Accident Insurance available for a small fee. If you would like any further information please contact me. 

RENTAL INCREASE EFFECTIVE 1^ST JULY
As you can appreciate we do our best to keep our fees down and be as cost effective as possible. In the last 5 years we have been fortunate to absorb the increasing rental costs and overheads and kept fees frozen. As from 1^st July our increases come into play and some of our venues will notice a fee increase.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Competitors from around the country converged with more than 50 couples competing last year in a variety of events.

What’s New
We have a new location coming to you at Weston Workers Club starting Mon 2 May.
This will be a trial run with Rockabilly and Swing Classes for Beginners and Intermediate.  The club also books Rocknroll and Rockabilly bands and we look forward to some great social nights.  Please spread the word around.

50s Prom New Venue
PLEASE NOTE due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control we have had to move the 50s Rocknroll Prom to a new venue.
Our previous venue double booked our date & we were treated very unprofessionally by management. After much searching we have confirmed a new venue at Telarah Bowling Club, Clark Street Telarah, minutes away from Maitland. We appreciate your understanding and I do hope you will come along and support this event.
For those going to AutumnFest this venue is only minutes away. We truly apologise for the inconvenience and will honour anyone who wishes a refund.

Introducing Eden Roper
We are happy to announce the return of Eden Roper to our teaching team. Eden will be commencing at our Stockton Venue in March.  Eden is a bubbly and enthusiastic Kat that brings character, charisma and energy to her classes.  Eden has been doing swing and rock’n’roll for over 6 years now and competes and performs along the way.  We are excited to have Eden back teaching.
 

Speaking of return it is great to see Steen Mayer at the Jetty assisiting with the Kiddies and Adults classes.

Vintage Hair Styling Workshop Central Coast
What a fabulous day!! Here is a picture of the beautiful ladies after our very first Pincurls & Bobby Pins, Powder & Paint Workshop.  A day of vintage hairstyling and makeup by the wonderful Miss Pixie and Nasya from Boogie Bop Dames.
If there are any ladies in the Sydney area that are interested in one of these workshops please let me know. We would like a minimum of 10 to run the workshop.

We are proposing to swap one of our Long Jetty Socials to the American Diner at The Entrance .

Eli the Manager has offered us a menu at $30 per head (adults) to include a 2 course meal and $6 children’s meal and the venue will be closed to the public for us dancers all night from 6.30pm .

Shaking it up this year with our  4 & 5 week courses that start the first week of each month and rotating styles every month between Charleston/Swing/Lindy Hop/Jive/
Rockabilly/RocknRoll/St Louis Shag/Ballroom. Please take note of new times at some of the locations and please note new venue for Emu Plains.
BEGINNERS:  We recommend you complete two months of Beginners Level 1 before
moving to next level. We recommend beginners to start in week 1 or week 2 of the course.

Summer Loving is just around the Corner and with that comes Christmas!
What a Year!!
The Festive season caps off a year of fun for Blue Suede Shoes Dance School!
We are approaching the Christmas and we would like to wish all our students, friends and families a very Happy & safe Christmas. We have had another wonderful successful year and it’s been a blessing to meet so many new dancers and have the support of so many loyal followers. Thank you to everyone who supported our Events this year and danced their way on to one of our studio floors!

Reflecting back this year at one of our busiest years yet; starting with The Prom,
A Day at the Races, WSDC 2015, Chromefest Sock Hop and there is still one more event – the upcoming Back to School Party.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our staff, volunteers and assistants who have helped in 2015. We cannot provide the service without them. I am truly grateful to each and every one of them.

Back to School Christmas Party

Who will be Dux of the Year?
Join us for a relaxing fun night with the Cruisin’ Deuces at DJ Vinnie. The Students will be unveiling their Swing Christmas Routine on the night!
Siobhan Ford Photo booth will be their capturing all the fun times.

This Sunday 6 December at the Croatia Sports Club Park Wickham from 10am join in the fun and festivities of a Summer picnic.

Stockton RSL Christmas Social  – Monday 7 December is our last night at Stockton and we will be celebrating in true Christmas Spirit with DJ Vinnie.

KIDDIES CLASS LONG JETTY
Our kiddies class at Long Jetty now has more boys than girls.  We are looking for new enrolments in the 8 -15 year age bracket.  Please spread the word.  We want to continue to keep the boys interested.

BACK TO SCHOOL CHRISTMAS PARTY
Did you know there’s only 10 weeks remaining before our Christmas Party?
This year’s end of year Christmas Party will be held at Parramatta RSL on Friday 11 December at 7.30pm with a Back to School Theme. Tickets are available now at all our venues or just simply email me. Each year the Student Participation Routine has been a great success. During October and November we will commence the Student Routine at all venues and we would like to see as many students join in.

CHROMEFEST
Chromefest is only 4 weeks ago. Students from our studio will be dancing on the Sails Stage and the Swing Katz will be on the main stage.  Blue Suede Shoes will be hosting the Chromefest Sockhop at Long Jetty Hall on Saturday 24 October. Please note the Sockhop is SOLD OUT! There will be soft drinks and bottled water on sale. Nibblys welcomed.

ONE OF A KIND CLOTHING
We will have a stall opposite the Sails Stage in our usual spot Friday to Sunday during Chromefest. We have new, preloved Rockabilly/Swing and Vintage clothing for men and women. Lots of great bargains please drop in and say hello.

LADIES HIGH TEA FASHION DAY 22 Nov 2pm
One of a Kind will have its first Ladies High Tea Fashion Day on Sunday 22 November at The Lake House The Entrance at 2pm.   The High Tea will be a fundraiser for White Ribbon Week. We have 25 seats available.  There will be best dressed prizes and Pinup Fashion tips and hair makeovers plus a delicious High Tea.  Support this worthy cause. MEDALS DAY
Sunday 8 November is Medals Day at Telarah Bowling Club. We encourage all students young and young at heart to come along and begin your medal program or continue with the next level. Medals for Blue Suede Shoes Students are $35. Please see Anna re Medals Nomination Forms. Spectators welcomed.

We have now filled our stock with Beginner/Intermediate Dance Instructions DVDs for all styles – RocknRoll, Rockabilly & Swing. These DVDs will be available at Chromefest and selected venues. If you wish to order a particular DVD please let us know by return email.

We were unable to secure a Saturday night in December.
