March Madness

WELCOME
Let’s welcome all our new students who have crossed the floor in 2024.
May dance bring you the joy and fun that our dance family has come to know.

March Madness lives up to its name.
The first 2 weeks of March have come and gone!
It’s a new month and a new season and shortly day light saving will end.
It’s time to prepare for the next few months, time to harvest, time to see the fruits of your labour during the Summer months. If you are a gardener and planted herbs it’s time to dry them and store them for the cold season. If you planted veges it’s time to pickle them and so forth. Get my drift.
I believe in “what you sow is what your reap”. Therefore, I hope your efforts during the summer are now reaping the rewards.

NSW STATE TITLES
Congratulations!
Let it be said the comeback after 5 years was extremely successful.
The new format was a hit!
We loved the added bonus of having Azz and the Cats perform for us and elevate the vibe in the room.
A big thank you and congratulations to all who participated and for amazing team and sponsors who made it happen.
The club was so impressed they rang me Monday morning and as luck would have it we are back in 2025. Save the date 8 March 2025.

There is still some fine tuning in some areas which I will be looking at next year closely.

NEW COURSES
Please note the following new course dates for the following venues
Gosford 14 March
Clarendon 14 March
Emu Plains 18 March
Concord 20 March

GOSFORD DANCE PARTY
Our next dance party at Gosford will be held this Friday 16 March. Let’s celebrate St Patricks Day.
Time 6.30pm – 9pm
$8 at the door

CHRISTMAS IN JULY
I have made the decision to avoid the clubs for the return of the Christmas in July due to the exhuberant hiring fees. I am not comfortable in passing those fees to our students.
Minimum venue hire is $1500. Gosford Hall has a great dance floor and accommodates 150 people comfortably. We are in the process of choosing a band and theme and will let you know in the coming months. In the meantime please SAVE THE DATE.

Venue Gosford Hall
Date Sat 20 July
Band to be confirmed
Theme to be confirmed

VRDDA STATE TITLES
The next competition on our calendar is the VRDDA State Titles in Melbourne Sat 18 May.
If anyone is interested in entering or would like to spectate and be at our table please let me know by Wednesday 20 March.

Saying

Much love to you all
Anna Justin

Spring Time

Spring News
Welcome to our Spring News! edition!

We are still traveling and have really been inspired in so many ways.  Travel is the best
education in so many ways.  It teaches you to broaden your mind and be grateful every minute of the day.

I am looking forward to the last quarter of the year probably my favourite time of year with ChromeFest and end of year Christmas Party coming up.

New Courses
New courses have begun at Concord and Emu Plains 2 weeks ago and Gosford will be back on a new night starting Thursday 6 October.
Also, new courses for Katoomba coming 6 September.
Tell your friends and spread the word.  Details will be posted on the website early September.

ChromeFest
I am pleased to say that Friday Sockhop is a SOLD OUT event and there are still Tickets available for Saturday Night Jive. Tickets for the Saturday event may be purchased directly from the Chromefest website.  Please note I will be hosting the event but I am not
responsible for the sale of tickets.

End of Year Christmas Party
Lastly, tickets for a Night at the Albert are on back on sale.  Pre sale Tickets may be
purchased by simply emailing me.  Direct Deposit is available now and from mid September you may purchase the tickets via the website.
We have the Aston Martinis playing for us for the event in the most grand setting at the Albert Palais in Leichhardt.  There is street parking and I’ve been told there is a car park nearby as well. If you purchased tickets earlier this year you need not to anything.

Upcoming Festivals
ChromeFest 21 & 22 Oct
North QLD Swing Festival 10-11 September

Quarterly News Update

Welcome Welcome Welcome

It has been a couple of months since I have blogged.
Firstly I would like to welcome all new students and hope you are enjoying the experience.
Summer has gone and Autumn is now upon us and we can definitely begin to feel the cool crisp air in the early morning and evenings.

There has been so much in the news recently and close to home I know it’s been tough for those in the flood regions. It hasn’t been an easy 2 years for so many with all the world events but I would like to say that this too will pass and I know that for those who have been effected by the devastation of the floods it is challenging to think ahead.

Dance Classes are slowly returning to some sort of normality. We are finding numbers are still not as confident as pre 2020. Here’s hoping the confidence will return soon especially now that socials and festivals are back.
Private Lessons Gosford – I have 1 spot available for regular privates.
Please email me for dates and times.

Reminder
Less than 3 weeks away our BSS Birthday is approaching.  We are so looking forward to The Lemon Squeezing Daddies with Pearl and catching up and seeing you all, hopefully there is time to dance between chit chats.
We do have 12 tickets which were returned and are available if you did miss out.
Please email or text me for details.

BSS Dates for Diaries
New Courses Emu Plains Monday 28 March
New Courses Concord Wednesday 30 March
New Courses Katoomba Tuesday 12 April
Camden Course date to be confirmed
Daylight saving ends Sunday 3 April 3am
Blue Suede Shoes Dance Party Saturday 9 April 7pm.

What’s New

The exciting news this month is that the Albert Palais in Leichhardt is now refurbished and available for events. I know some of our students danced in this stunning dance hall back in the day. This venue was built in 1934 and in its heyday boasted 3 stages and hosted countless bands and events. The venue holds 200 plus with ample space.
We would like to bring back the glory of this beautiful elegant vintage venue in an upcoming event. We are also asking and would appreciate feedback if there is interest for a formal event at before we go any further with plans.
The band we have in mind for this event is The Aston Martinis with their new line up. Dates to be announced hopefully at our BSS Birthday Party on Saturday 9 April provided everything aligns and we have the support.

Festivals

The Festivals are increasing month by month.
We have been asked to host the Chromefest evening events this year on Friday and Saturday. More details will be posted soon and we will advise when we open the pre ticket sales. Once again pre ticket sales will be available at the BSS Birthday Party.
Below are some dates of the most popular larger Festivals. Please do check if there are any updates or date changes as we have seen with the Wintersun event.

12 Days of Christmas

Jingle Bells Jingle Bells Jingle all the way to Christmas Day
I don’t know about you but I’m super excited for Christmas and the summer season ahead!
I love this time of year and the season of giving.  I don’t believe “giving” means lavish gifts and shopping till you’re broke.  Giving your time, being present, listening, making your gifts, making time and spending time with your loved ones is what I love most.
We have missed all our beautiful students and supporters and look forward to the start of 2022.

Our 30th Birthday

As you may now know our 30th Birthday event has been moved to Emu Plains on Saturday 8th January.  We are happy to still have the Lemon Squeezin Daddies performing at this event and we really looking forward to celebrating the New Year as well as our belated Birthday. Please be reminded this event is a sold out event.

Naughty or Nice
Here is something fun you can do to fill in the days of boredom leading to Christmas.
Make a list Naughty on one side and Nice on the other.
List under each heading when you have been naughty or nice and give yourself a point  for nice and subtract a point for naughty.  Total up and if you’re in the positive reward yourself with a gift if you are in the negative give away a gift.

I would like to send a Special thanks to all the helpers, volunteers, students and staff who helped us at the One of a Kind Stall this year.  It was definitely a challenging couple of days with the gusts of winds but we survived.  We are truly blessed with wonderful friends.  From pack up to set up, grabbing cuppas and lunch for us and holding the fort down during the winds and to all the sales staff who worked across the 3 days. You are appreciated xxx
